California Calligraphy Summit
Opening Reception Sept. 23, 2-4 pm
Fine Arts Building 238, San Francisco State University

The California Calligraphy Summit brings together the work of a dozen artists who are now or have been based in California, for whom calligraphy is central to their artistic exploration. Diverse international and culturally complex written languages inform their inventively experimental work, ranging from abstract to literary, classic to "street." Several of the artists are already acclaimed abroad, while others are just beginning to attract art world attention for their exciting approaches. This fascinating and multilingual exhibition shows how some of the best art in California ties to the world. Exhibiting artists are Tauba Auerbach, Chen Chi-kwan, Catherine Courtenaye, Ala Ebtekar, Fu Chuan-fu, Wosene Worke Kosrof, Stella Lai, Isaac Lin, John McKenzie, Kazuaki Tanahashi, Mohamed Zakariya, and Faye Zhang.

Admission is free and open to all ages.

Opening Reception: Sat, Sept 23, 2-4 pm, featuring artist Wosene Worke Kosrof in conversation with curator Lizzetta LeFalle-Collins at 3 pm.

Deep Cycle sloar charging for burningman??

Hey, dorks (yes, i use it affectionately!), do any of you know where to find a kit or parts list for a deep cycle solar charging system specifiaclly for ELWire? I've looked at a few of the ELWire sites, but they don't have any solar stuff.

if you are in this tribe, either you are interested in an urban hacking festival in san francisco, or you have been invited to have an interest.

please post your vision for what such a festival would entail to this thread- brainstorm! Don't dismiss anything as unrealistic or worry about any sort of constraints- just spit some shit on what you would get out of a festival like this, why you would go to it, what sort of events and locations would be appropriate, what themes and focuses, and what groups you would like to see included in the planning process..

thanks in advance for being drafted into the planning committee- this is your festival. and it will happen.

also will prolly move some of this planning to indyvoter in a couple weeks since tribe doesnt have communally-editable wikis and other kewl shit- and then integrate that planning community on indyvoter with this tribe one via the glory of rss.
